Hackney Night Shelter
Since the beginning of January, 2012, the Dalston Darlings W.I have been providing a fresh supply of fruit to the Hackney Winter Night Shelter each Sunday.
Hackney Winter Night Shelter provides a warm welcome, a hot meal and a bed for 25 homeless people each night from January to March each year. During December last year, we met with Tigger who runs the Sunday night shelter at St. Michael’s Hall on Lavender Grove to speak about how the Dalston Darlings WI can help out with this local charity. It was suggested a weekly fruit bowl could be delivered to the hall for people to enjoy after dinner or at breakfast time.
If any member is interested in getting involved in this charity please contact committee member Maighread Neligan here.
You can help out by dropping off fruit to Maighread on any given weekend or by arranging (with Maighread) to deliver the fruit in person to the shelter on Lavender Grove on any Sunday evening (5pm – 8pm).
